CHANGING VERTDRUM HEADS
1) Place
VertDrum on flat soft surface, such as table with tablecloth.
2) Do
not loosen small hex screws that connect bracket to rim with
lock nut
bolts – this will disengage the mounting bracket from the top rim.

3) Loosen
hex tuning screws evenly until they disengage from hex nuts in

bottom rim - be
careful not to lose any hex nuts or nylon washers.
4) After
removing screws and nuts, remove rims from VertDrum. Set both rims
off to the
side for now.
5) Firmly pull
heads until they disengages from synthetic trim bearing edge.

Edge system on VertDrums can sometimes catch on the aluminum
drumhead
hoops during head removal. This is normal. Cold climates can
magnify this due
to temperature expansion.
6) If heads bind, use thumb and index fingers to leverage heads
from drum.
Note: this
will not damage VertDrum.
7) Place
new heads on VertDrums. Remember, the aluminum drumhead hoops
will need to
clear the synthetic bearing edge again. Using even force, click the
heads over
the edge, down onto the VertDrum.
8) Place
bottom rim on table and set VertDrum into interior of rim. Do not put all

hex nuts into bottom rim.
9) Place
top rim on drum & adjust bottom rim to match screw positions.
10)
Attach one hex screw – with hex nut in rim hole closest to edge of table and

lightly finger tighten.
Do not tighten down
any screws with hex key yet.
11) Attach one hex screw through top mounting bracket hole – then carefully lift
drum holding rims together. Place hex nut into bottom rim and finger tighten this
screw until
rim is attached and secure. At this point, you should no longer need

to hold the drum together.

12) At this
point, the
rest of the hex screws and hex nuts can be connected.
Make sure
to insert
screws evenly at the 12 / 3 / 6 & 9 - O’clock positions first.
Only
lightly finger tighten screws at this point.

13) Once
all hex screws have been connected to the drum, hand tighten screws
as follows:
squeeze the rims of the drum together, hand tightening the screws
from the
middle section of the screw. this will ensure even distribution of tension
on
all hex screws, prior to using force of hex key.
14)
3/32nd hex key can be used for final tuning adjustments. Place the
drum
onto
cymbal stand. The best tuning comes from making small, equally
distributed
tension adjustments. Test the tone with each
adjustment. Remember to use
good listening skills to get the best sound.
